A Good Day To Die Hard Is Number 1 Spot At Box Office!

Bruce Willis latest Die Hard movie hit the box office this holiday weekend and pounded its way to first place with $33.2 million in earnings.   A Good Day to Die Hard is the fifth film in the action series, and had a budget of $92 million.

Last week’s top earner, Identity Thief, dropped to second place bringing in $28 million.  The comedy has not only made back its $35 million budget; it’s seeing good profit now as well.

Meanwhile, Valentine’s Day celebrations may have brought audiences in to see the debut of Josh Duhamel’s romantic date flick, Safe Haven.  The film opened in third place bringing in $25.4 million.  Word has it talk surrounding the film’s ending also had curious movie-goers piling in to see what the buzz is about.  A very impressive debut considering Safe Haven’s $28 million budget.

3D computer animated film, Escape from Planet Earth, came in fourth with $20.5 million.  The movie, whose cast includes Brendan Fraser, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Jessica Alba, had a production budget of $40 million.

Zombie romance, Warm Bodies, fell almost six feet under landing in fifth place this week with $11 million in earnings, which is just about what it earned last weekend, bringing the films total earnings to over $51 million.
